Geography location
　　Huoqiu is on the cross area of 115°50′EL to 116°32′EL and 31°44′NL to 32°36′NL. Huoqiu located in the west part of Anhui province, rest her head on the lofty Dabie Mountain in the south, tread on the torrential Huaihe River in the north. Borders on Henan province on the west; on the north, across the Huaihe River, is Fuyang city; adjoins Lu'an city and Shou county on the east; Jinzhai county is on her south.

Climate condition
　　Huoqiu belongs to subtropical monsoon climate. It is mild through the whole year, and it has a proper rainfall and plenty of sunlight and a long frost-free period. Rainy season is the hot season here and the four seasons are separated.

Natural resources
　　Huoqiu occupy an area of 3,493KM2, known for a land flowing with milk and honey, teem with grain, oil and cotton, is one of the first commodity grain base counties and the product base of pig, goat, birds, egg and willow of the nation or the province. The shrimp and the whitebait were used as tribute in the old time. There are nearly 20 kinds of value mine under ground, magnetite ore reserves are the sixth largest of the nation, it offers plenty of material for the construction of our county. Our county is one of the national large-scale ore base.

Water resources
　　The amount of perennial average water resources in the county is more than 1,350,000,000 M3; average available sluice amount is 429,000,000 M3. The rivers in the county are the Fenghe river, the Zhaomuhe river, the Niujiaohe river, the Yaowanhe river, the Gaotanghe river, the Jihe river, the Toudaohe river, the Erdaohe river, the Youfanghe river, the Hongchenghe river, the Shilonghe river, the Huaihe river, the Pihe river and the Shihe river. Lakes are the Chengdong lake and the Chengxi lake.
